What are Doshas?
Dosha's are energies which are a combination of elements. Dosha's carry the elements around the body moving around the body and eventually forming structure and tissues. The word dosha means that which changes and they are responsible for many things. Each person has one dosha more prominant that the rest. If this dosha becomes out of balance or in excess specific dosha diseases and dysfunctions start to occur.
The qualities of dosha pacifying herbs and foods accompanied by Ayurvedic treatments help prevent these imbalances occurring and brings one body back into balance. Ayurvedic massage is an integral part of the Ayurvedic System various techniques help the rest of the medical treatment succeed by irradicating toxin build up and using stimulating rejuevenation therapy (rasayana).
Ayurvedic massage has a different approach to western massage with the main aim to open up the energetic channels know as Nadis. When the Nadis channels are open the dosha's can flow uninterrupted around the body carrying vital nutrients and life force energy. Marma massage is an Ayurvedic speciality as Marma points are the keys to this energetic flow, acting like a secret centre and co relates to various other parts of the body and organs.
By analyzing a persons individual constitution known as (Prakruti) which is almost like their genetic makeup, the practitioner can also detect the various causes of dosha imbalance. From this detailed observation the practitioner will devise the correct lifestyle and dietary needs, to return the patient back to their natural constitution. The 3 Dosha's present in a patient can vary at different levels,a patient can show signs of all doshas present but all of us are unique, therefore each level of dosha is different, no two people will be treated with the same approach in Ayurveda.
